Barbados

Barbados is a sovereign island nation in the southeastern Caribbean, beloved for its blend of British colonial heritage, vibrant Bajan culture, and some of the most consistently beautiful beaches in the Atlantic world. The island punches well above its size, offering everything from the rugged, surf-battered Atlantic coast of the east to the calm, turquoise waters of the sheltered west. Travelers leave with a deep appreciation for the warmth of its people, the sophistication of its food scene, and a laid-back rhythm that feels entirely its own.

  • Pink and white sand beaches

December through April offers the most reliably dry and sunny weather, with lower humidity and refreshing trade winds making it the island's peak season for outdoor exploration and beach-going.
Ideal trip length
7–10 days, long enough to explore both coasts, visit the island's historic parishes, and settle into the unhurried pace Barbados is famous for.

Good to know
English is the official language, making navigation and conversation effortless for American travelers; don't overlook the rugged Scotland District and the northeast parishes — they offer a dramatic, less-visited side of the island far removed from the western resort strip.
