Trinidad and Tobago

Trinidad and Tobago is a twin-island Caribbean nation that stands apart from its neighbors — less a sun-and-sand resort destination than a vibrant, culturally layered experience rooted in African, Indian, Creole, and European traditions. Trinidad pulses with the birthplace energy of Carnival and steelpan music, while Tobago offers unhurried reef diving, rainforest hikes, and some of the most unspoiled beaches in the southern Caribbean. Together, the two islands deliver a remarkably diverse journey in a compact geography.

Good to know
English is the official language, making navigation easy for U.S. travelers, but keep an ear out for the local creole dialect — it's part of the island's charm. Don't skip Trinidad's Asa Wright Nature Centre in the Northern Range, one of the premier birdwatching lodges in the Western Hemisphere, and plan a ferry or short flight between islands to experience the two distinct personalities of this dual-island nation.
