Belize

Belize punches well above its size, packing ancient Maya ruins, the longest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere, and dense jungle wildlife into one small Central American gem. English is the official language, making it one of the most accessible Caribbean-basin destinations for U.S. travelers. Whether you're diving the Blue Hole, zip-lining through the rainforest canopy, or paddling a river to a candlelit cave, Belize rewards adventurers and nature lovers in equal measure.

Good to know
English is the official language and Belizeans drive on the right, so U.S. travelers adjust quickly — but don't overlook the inland Cayo District, where you'll find the most dramatic Maya sites and jungle lodges that rival anything on the coast.
