Tanzania

Tanzania is one of Africa's most iconic safari destinations, home to sweeping savannas, snow-capped Kilimanjaro, and the spice-scented island of Zanzibar. From the endless plains of the Serengeti to the flamingo-lined shores of Lake Manyara, the country offers a staggering range of landscapes and wildlife encounters. Its warm, welcoming culture — shaped by over 120 ethnic groups and a deep Swahili heritage — makes every journey feel as rich in human connection as it is in natural wonder.

Best time to visit
The dry seasons — June through October and January through February — offer the best wildlife viewing, with sparse vegetation and animals gathering around water sources; June to October also coincides with the dramatic Mara River wildebeest crossings in the Serengeti.
Ideal trip length
10–14 days, which allows enough time to combine a northern safari circuit with a few days unwinding on Zanzibar without feeling rushed.

Good to know
Swahili is the national language and a warm "Jambo" or "Karibu" (welcome) goes a long way with locals; for first-timers, the classic northern circuit — Tarangire, Ngorongoro, and the Serengeti — is the backbone of any Tanzania itinerary, but the remote Selous (Nyerere National Park) and Ruaha in the south reward travelers looking to escape the crowds.
