Peru

Peru is one of South America's most rewarding destinations, layering ancient Incan civilizations, dramatic Andean landscapes, and a coastline that stretches the length of the continent. From the cloud-shrouded ruins of Machu Picchu to the vast mysteries of the Amazon basin, the country offers travelers a rare depth of history, nature, and culture in a single journey. Peru's culinary scene — rooted in indigenous traditions and shaped by Japanese, Spanish, and African influences — has earned it a well-deserved reputation as one of the world's great food destinations.

10–14 days, allowing enough time to move meaningfully between Lima, the Sacred Valley, Cusco, and at least one natural region such as the Amazon or Lake Titicaca without feeling rushed.

Good to know
Altitude is a real consideration — Cusco sits above 11,000 feet, so plan a day or two of acclimatization before attempting strenuous hikes. Spanish is the official language, though Quechua is widely spoken in highland communities, and learning a few words of each goes a long way with locals.
