Japan

Japan is a destination of extraordinary contrasts — ancient temple districts and neon-lit cityscapes, meditative Zen gardens and bullet-train efficiency. From the snowcapped peaks of Hokkaido to the subtropical shores of Okinawa, the country rewards travelers with a depth of culture, cuisine, and craftsmanship that is genuinely unlike anywhere else on earth. First-time visitors and seasoned returnees alike consistently find new layers to uncover.

  • Cherry blossom season
  • Mount Fuji views
  • Sushi & ramen culture
  • Ancient Kyoto temples
  • Shinkansen bullet trains
  • Immersive pop culture (anime, gaming)
Best time to visit
Spring (late March–early May) brings the iconic cherry blossoms and mild temperatures across most of the country, while autumn (mid-October–late November) offers brilliant fall foliage and comfortable hiking weather — both are considered peak seasons for a reason.
Ideal trip length
10–14 days, which allows time to move meaningfully between at least three distinct regions — such as Tokyo, the Kyoto–Osaka–Nara corridor, and one rural area like the Japanese Alps or Hiroshima — without feeling rushed.

Good to know
The IC card (a rechargeable transit card available at major train stations) works seamlessly on subways, local trains, and buses across most cities, making getting around remarkably simple even without Japanese language skills. If time allows, venture beyond the classic Tokyo–Kyoto corridor to regions like Tohoku or the Noto Peninsula, where traditional rural Japan remains wonderfully intact.
