Cameroon

Often called "Africa in miniature," Cameroon packs an extraordinary range of landscapes, cultures, and wildlife into a single country — from the volcanic peaks of the western highlands to the dense rainforests of the south and the sweeping savannas of the north. Its more than 250 ethnic groups give rise to a mosaic of languages, music, and traditions that rewards curious travelers at every turn. Whether you're tracking gorillas in Lobéké National Park or watching the sun rise over the Mandara Mountains, Cameroon consistently surprises and captivates.

Good to know
French and English are both official languages, though French dominates in most regions outside the Northwest and Southwest — a few basic French phrases go a long way with locals. The Ring Road through the western highlands is one of Africa's most scenic self-drive or guided routes and should not be missed.
